The DIS was established under the Intelligence and Security Service Act 2007, to be a Directorate under the Office of the President. The Directorate was established to secure national interests of the Republic of Botswana.

Our Mission

To be the first to know and inform on threats to national security and opportunities for Botswana's prosperity.

To be a leading agency in providing quality intelligence to secure Botswana and its interests.

DIS Leadership

Brig. (Rtd.) Peter Fana Magosi

Director General

Brig. (Rtd.) Peter Fana Magosi is the current Director General of the DIS. He took over the leadership of the DIS in 2018 from the late Colonel (Rtd.) Dr. Isaac Kgosi. Brig. (Rtd.) Magosi also served in the national army's Special Forces as well as the Military Intelligence.
